Meltdown of the climate 'consensus'

New York Post -- If this keeps up, no one's going to trust any scientists.
The global-warming establishment took a body blow this week, as the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change received a stunning rebuke from a top-notch independent investigation.
For two decades, the IPCC has spearheaded efforts to convince the world's governments that man-made carbon emissions pose a threat to the global temperature equilibrium -- and to civilization itself. IPCC reports, collated from the work of hundreds of climate scientists and bureaucrats, are widely cited as evidence for the urgent need for drastic action to "save the planet."

" That's not true. Back in the 1960s it was an easy good grade on a jr high science project to build a device to puff cigarettes into cotton ball filters and show all the junk that went into your lungs and therefore caused sickness and cancer. Never mind that none of this proved anything...everyone "knew" it did and the poor science experiment got a good grade because the students and teachers all knew it was true.

After the failed attempt to paint the entire scientific community with "climate gate" (which failed), the anti-Global Warming crowd now falls-back on one person's claim on glacial melt, versus the thousands of scientists and their per-reviewed scientific studies that all show changes tied to Global Warming. They are correct on their one major point - the science needs to be beyond reproach - to help prevent fueling the grossly overblown hype that occurs when even one questionable result is published. More carbon dioxide leads to warming. This has been around since the late 1800s. If not then you need to explain how the physics of the absorption spectrum is now incorrect for radiation. How this manifests itself on a global scale & how we elect to mitigate the impacts is another matter.

Why because the cigarette companies funded their own studies. You say, "No one can agree on this (global warming debate)". Perhaps you smoke cigarettes today and still believe the misinformation that the tobacco industry put out 40 years ago. Hopefully not and you are spending your money in better ways. "Scientists" (or those who proport to be) can put out any and all kinds of mis-information. ---- The question is, do you believe it?

The article's focus, by and large, shows why THAT claim and other claims like it, don't 'stand up'. 'Man-made' seems to be the operative phrase that is in dispute, NOT that the Climate is changing. There IS a consensus that our planet's climate is changing. And no one is out to "save the planet" ... our planet is going to be just fine. What people ARE out to save, though, is the human race. On the one hand, does it REALLY make a difference what is causing it? One the other hand, is it being suggested that 6 billion people are NOT having an impact on the planet?
