lots of station have closed here already which reduces the competition, thus, allowing for more drastic price swings (upward usually).

Saw one of these stations yesterday. No gas prices posted, cones blocking the pumps and the only customers were 2 cars in for service. This station was on a busy corner. Sad. Hopefully, they manage to find another supplier.

quattro02, you really should know better than to make statements that are so false and outrageous. The DemocRATS controlled both houses of Congress from 2007 to 2011. The DemocRATS still control the Senate and the White House.

Is this a bankruptcy they needed to declare, or did the overpaid imbecile in charge decide it was strategically beneficial (to him at lest)?

Sad. The gas stations should suffer because of the parent or management company.

Hard on the independent dealer but time will heal the situation. If there is money to be made someone will come up with a method.

The GOP runs Congress? That is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. I don't have to wonder why people vote the way they do. What GOP politician authored and pushed a bill to damage our energy structure?
Wait until Obama, the green dreamers and the I hate the evil big oil and speculators crowd get their way and refiners and producers shutdown.
Get your Govt Motors overpriced electric car and get ready for your Obama Demorat future .

Is station owner high and dry. That he can't pay his bill and is lady lazy she should get her own gas its a lot quicker.

BP is high priced gas anyway so it better to get gas elsewhere. Wasn't aware there were any full service places left.

What is a full service pump??? Is that when your too lazy to pump it yourself and a gas attendant has to pump it. I would rather do it myself, it seems faster that way.

Sad affair & at first thought might be related to impending refinery closures. .. & pithyopiner...its one thing to buy & sell paper bbls & gals & another thing to take delivery!!! Try yourself as an individual to get a tanker of gas - must find a rental truck, then likely bribe the gas hub, then buy your additives to add to the tanker, cover the insurance costs of transport & pumping etc. They'd lose money in the transactions I'm sure.

So, can't they just buy gas on the spot market? Go to the refinery and buy a tanker. What is the big problem? Jeeze, do I have to think of everything around this joint?

This is what happens when the GOP runs Congress. The party of "We got ours, we want more and you are on your own." has no place for helping disbaled folks who in many cases became disabled defending the country that let them "get theirs". Those clowns know greed and selfishness. They are not patriots.

In Calif. if you have disabled person placard or plates and the station has more then one employee available, by law they have to serve you like a full service station at the serve yourself price. Check your state law

Luckily(?), the BP stations around here re buying from UNMARKED trucks coming from who knows where, AND CARRYING WHO KNOWS WHAT.
Maybe, that is why sales are spotty here at the BP pumps.
And,NO, the DO NOT offer full service.

Sad mess. Really sucks for the small business owner. I'd cover the BP sign and try to get another supplier. At least that would mitigate damages caused by Getty. Hope station owners can recoup some losses from Getty.
